Two ceremonies take place today to remember the
men and women who have sacrificed their lives in defence of this
country.
Reading's Mayor Councillor Deborah Edwards will lead a two minute
silence at the Forbury War Memorial at 11am.
This is the first time this has happened and follows the Council unanimously supporting a resolution put forward by Cllr Chris Maskell on behalf of The Royal British Legion. He said: 'The Council believes the
people of Reading, in line with a request from The Royal British Legion,
should be given the opportunity to gather for remembrance in a formal
setting."
And Deputy Mayor Councillor
Gul Khan will lead a two minute silence outside the Civic Offices, also at
11am.
Everyone is welcome to join in the two minute silence at either
event later today.

Welcome to my blog. I am using it to keep you updated on my work as a councillor for Battle ward, Chair of the Art and Heritage forum and an activist for Unite the Union. I cover the issues affecting Battle ward and Reading residents. There may also be the occasional random post about things I am interested in.
