Reading Borough Council Press Release
One of the highlights of the festive calendar, the Civic Carol Service, takes place in Reading next week.
The service will be at Reading Minster Church of St Mary the Virgin, St Mary's Butts on Thursday, December 15th.
It is a traditional service of lessons and carols retelling the story of the Nativity.
There will be a number of readings by representatives of local organisations.
These include Councillor Deborah Edwards, Mayor of Reading; Michael
Coughlin, Chief Executive Reading Borough Council; Colin Wallace,
Fundraising and Communications Coordinator Launchpad Reading, Mary
Genis, Artistic Director of Culturemix Arts and Member of the Reading
2012 Partnership Board, and Simon Edgley, Managing Director at Trinity
Mirror Southern.
The readings will be complemented by Earley St Peter's Church Choir.
The evening begins at 6.30pm.
Cllr Deborah Edwards, Mayor of Reading, said: "The concert is a
wonderful way of Reading residents entering into the festive spirit. I
hope to see a full church joining me and gathering together to celebrate
the Nativity at this year's popular Civic Carol Service."
