Oxford Road to be resurfaced - but closed for 5 days

The Oxford Road, from West Reading bridge to Norcot roundabout, will be resurfaced this summer and at the same time improvements made to the layout of the road and pavements.  This is a great 'gain' for Oxford Road residents but it does come with some 'pain' because, for a full resurfacing to be completed, a large section of the Oxford Road will be closed for 5 days.
Residents will still have access but there will be no through traffic.  Residents will be receiving information soon,  but below is a summary of what is happening, taken from the council press release :

'Extensive resurfacing of Oxford Road is included in this year's programme. In order to complete this safely and in the shortest possible time, road closures are planned. Oxford Road will be closed as outlined below:
  • Between Grovelands Road and Beresford Road 5 days 1st to 5th August.
  • Between Norcot Road and Grovelands Road except for buses and hgvs and between Western Elms Avenue and Beresford Road on Saturday 30th July and Sunday 31st July. These closures will not be at the same time.
Diversions will change depending on which section of the Oxford Road is being resurfaced at any particular time. The Council is therefore asking all road users to follow marked diversion routes as necessary and to be aware these may be liable to change.'
